The Equality Model, combatting trafficking in human beings for sexual exploitation

Välkommen att lyssna på Sveriges officiella sidoevent The Equality Model, combatting trafficking in human beings for sexual exploitation under årets Kvinnokommission, CSW66.

The UN Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons imposes a demand on states to impose measures to discourage the demand that fosters trafficking in human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitation. The webinar will explore the ability of the Equality Model to meet this obligation, as well as strengthening gender equality and the rights of women and girls. The Equality Model recognizes that prostitution is a highly gendered issue which largely effects marginalized groups and is inherently harmful to both the individual victims and to society at large. Therefore, it decriminalizes those that are exploited in prostitution while criminalizing the buyer. The webinar brings together government, civil society and international organisations for an evidence-based conversation on the experiences from Sweden and Israel in the practical implementation of their respective laws in this area.

Thu 17 March 1.15 – 2.45 pm CET
